Lake Neusiedl | Rax region | Krems | Dürnstein

Lake Neusiedl

Distance: approx. 60 kilometres from Vienna

A holiday feeling with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and refreshing lake breezes! Whether surfing, sailing or simply enjoying nature - the steppe lake in Burgenland on the border with Hungary offers leisure and recreational opportunities. The unique flora and fauna has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Neusiedl. Culinary delights are also catered for. The modern Mole West restaurant is the perfect place to end the day in a relaxed atmosphere right on the lakeshore. Active water sports enthusiasts will find great opportunities for kite surfing and sailing in Podersdorf!

Rax region

Distance: approx. 80 kilometres from Vienna

South-west of Vienna, near Reichenau and Payerbach on the border between Lower Austria and Styria, is the alpine Rax region. The region is ideal for hiking and offers a breathtaking backdrop with the 2,007-metre-high Heukuppe and Schneeberg mountains and the Schwarza meandering through them. The Rax cable car takes you up to over 1,500 metres in just eight minutes, from there you can explore the high plateau. Especially in summer, the Höllental valley between the mountains offers pleasant cooling and reveals an impressive natural landscape. Along the First Vienna Water Pipeline Trail, there are several forester's lodges and restaurants for a snack in between. Only a short drive away, the Looshaus am Kreuzberg invites you to dine in the restaurant with its characteristic architecture of the famous master builder.

Krems

Distance: approx. 80 kilometres from Vienna

Krems is always worth a trip! Above all, the city on the Danube attracts many visitors thanks to its cultural offerings and picturesque location. Built in a former tobacco factory, the Kunsthalle Krems offers an innovative exhibition programme of international, contemporary artists. The area of Krems and its surroundings is also perfect for walking, hiking and cycling along the Danube and in the Wachau. Insider tip: treat yourself to brunch at the Wellenspiel in Krems en route. The restaurant is directly on the Danube, and makes for the perfect scenic pitstop for lunch.

Dürnstein

Distance: approx. 90 kilometres from Vienna

The small town in Krems-Land in Lower Austria is known for its architectural and scenic beauty. In the immediate vicinity of the municipality, which only has about 900 inhabitants, there are several sights as well as hiking and walking opportunities. The former monastery Stift Dürnstein, with its world-famous blue tower, is characteristic of the landscape. The ruins of the rock castle, which was built in the middle of the 12th century, lie above the town and can be reached by a varied hike along the Vogelbergsteig trail. During the ascent, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the region. Along the vineyards on the banks of the Danube, several wine taverns invite you to stop for a bite to eat. This idyll is one of the top excursion destinations in Austria!

The minute rate includes 200 km of mileage. A long distance rate of 0,39 € per kilometer will apply for each additional kilometer after the included mileage. Hourly and daily rates do not include mileage and each kilometre driven will be charged between 0,23 € and 0,27 € (depending on car model category). The daily price displayed is for a 30-day rental.
