Fuelling & Charging

How do I charge an electric car?

Charging an electric car is fun and – dare we say – addictive:

  1. Find a charging station using the app.
  2. Park the car, with the rear passenger side next to the charging point.
  3. Connect the charging cable to the car (rear passenger side).
  4. The charging point turns green when the car is plugged in correctly.
  5. End your trip. Easy as that!

Hint: Each time you fully charge a car that has less than 60% battery level, you earn 4,00 € of credit. This can be used to pay for your trips and trip-related costs. To earn credit, make sure to end your trip after the car has started charging.

Marked with the 🔌 icon on the map, a charging hub is a parking garage where you can park and charge our cars at charging stations. Parking here is reserved exclusively for SHARE NOW drivers. • To unplug, start your trip and let the app guide you

Please note: It is not allowed to park a car in a charging hub without charging it. It is currently not possible to charge the car outside of Madrid.

Where can I find charging hubs in Madrid?

Check the app, look for a socket icon 🔌 on the map screen and make sure there are free parking spaces available. Here's an overview of all charging hubs:

Charging hub locations:

  • CERCEDILLA: Calle Cercedilla 3, 28015 Madrid
  • ORENSE: Avenida General Perón 27, 28020 Madrid
  • GOYA: Calle Goya 115, 28009 Madrid

SHARE NOW charging stations within parking garages are easy to find. Once inside, look for the parking spaces with the SHARE NOW logo.

How do I charge an electric car outside of Madrid?

Find a station:

  • SHARE NOW provides charging for free at our charging hubs in Madrid.
  • Outside Madrid, you need to find charging points with a built-in cable through an external company, e.g. through Electromaps.
  • In order to use the charging point, you will have to download the Charging Point Operator App, i.e. Electromaps, Iberdrola, Endesa, Wenea, etc.
  • Charging is on us! We will refund the charging cost after ending your trip. Just send us a copy of the invoice via email to: hola@share-now.com

Start charging:

  • Use the cable connected to the charging point. Our Fiat 500e and Peugeot e-208 EVs can be charged with two types of connectors (CCS or Type 2). It is important that you activate the charging point before connecting the cable to the vehicle.
  • We recommend CCS as it's the most common, and fastest (up to 100kW for Peugeot e-208 or 80kW for Fiat 500e). For reference, charging takes approx. 30 minutes at 100kW, 1h at 50kW and 2,5h at 22kW. The approximate range of the cars at 100% state of charge is 250 km.

Maximize your range:

  • The energy consumption and thus the range of the battery is subject to several factors, like driving style, weather conditions and terrain. We recommend an economical driving style to save energy and optimise consumption.
  • The cars also have driving modes. ECO (Peugeot e-208) or SHERPA (Fiat 500e) are the most economical driving modes. We recommend ECO or SHERPA modes for city driving and switching to “normal” when cruising at more than 80 km/h.
Do I need to refuel or charge SHARE NOW cars after each trip?

No. We don't expect you to refuel or charge our cars every time you're done. However, if you do, the cost of fuel/charge is covered by us and we'll even give you SHARE NOW credit as a thank you!

If you end your trip in an electric vehicle with less than 10% battery power (unless permitted by the General Terms and Conditions) or a vehicle with a combustion or hybrid engine with less than 15 kilometres' worth of fuel, a fee may be charged. See Fees and Costs policy for more information.

Hint: To earn charging credit, please make sure to end your trip after the car has started charging!
