SHARE NOW Vienna with a strong financial year 2021 and new vehicles for the fleet

  • 27,000 new customers in Vienna in one year
  • Significant increase in advance bookings, average rental duration and average distance driven
  • Additional business area in Wiener Seestadt and 100 new Fiat 500X models

Vienna, January 19, 2022 – Despite the pandemic, Europe's leading free-floating car-sharing provider SHARE NOW recorded a strong financial year 2021 in Vienna. The joint venture of BMW Group and Daimler AG recorded 27,000 new customers in Vienna, an increase of 12% compared to the previous year. The company now has around 244,000 customers in Vienna. "The demand for flexible mobility in Vienna is greater than ever before. Our figures for the financial year 2021 clearly show that car-sharing from SHARE NOW has established itself as a fixed component of the mobility mix of many Viennese," says SHARE NOW CEO Olivier Reppert.

Increase in advance bookings, frequency of use, and duration of use
Advance bookings of SHARE NOW vehicles for up to 100 days were particularly popular in Vienna in 2021. Around 31% more advance bookings for long-term rentals (up to 30 days) were received in 2021. When customers book in advance, the vehicles are refueled, cleaned, disinfected and delivered to their doorstep in the business area.

In the Austrian capital, where the German company celebrated its 10th anniversary in December 2021, the Viennese used a vehicle for an average of 61 minutes, an increase of 11%. In addition, significantly longer distances were covered; on average, a SHARE NOW model was driven around 13 kilometers per trip. This results in an increase of 16% compared to 2020.

Wiener Seestadt new in the business area and 100 additional Fiat 500X models
This development is due to the consistent expansion of the use of long-term car-sharing services. In Vienna, the 1-3 day packages for excursions around Vienna or trips to neighboring countries are particularly popular. The increased demand for longer rentals has also had an impact on the Vienna SHARE NOW fleet: with immediate effect, around 100 new Fiat 500X models will be successively made available for the Vienna fleet. The spacious interior of the five-seater is ideal for trips with family or friends.

Since the end of December last year, Vienna residents have also been able to rent and return SHARE NOW vehicles in Seestadt. In cooperation with WienMobil stations, five parking spaces are available exclusively for SHARE NOW customers in addition to the expanded business area. "We are consistently gearing our business towards sustainable growth," says Olivier Reppert. "Our conviction at SHARE NOW is to share more and own less to make our cities more livable and sustainable for residents and to continue to make mobility as individual and flexible as possible."
