SHARE NOW Opens Two Car Sharing Hubs in Rotterdam

  • Users can now commute between Amsterdam and Rotterdam
  • Rotterdammers get to know Fiat 500e's and BMW i3's
  • Part of Rotterdam municipality pilot and cooperation with APCOA Parking

Amsterdam, September 1, 2021 – Today SHARE NOW is launching two hubs in Rotterdam for its electric car sharing service. With this, the European market leader in free-floating car sharing expands for the first time beyond Amsterdam, where 350 all-electric Fiat 500e's, BMW i3's and smart EQ fortwo's are already available for rent by the minute, hour or day.

The 98,000 users can now start, end or stop a ride at Parking Garage Schouwburgplein 2 and APCOA Parking Westblaak in Rotterdam. This way, a shared car from Amsterdam can be left in one of the Rotterdam hubs and the vehicles from the hubs can be used for journeys in the Rotterdam area or even to a destination abroad. At the hub, users can also rent the shared car by the minute, hour or day and reserve a car in advance. Both hubs offer five parking spaces with charging stations.

Expansion to the Port City a Milestone
The expansion to Rotterdam is a milestone according to Robert Bosman, Managing Director of SHARE NOW Netherlands: "We are continuously working on improving our service to offer our users even more flexibility. With the opening of the two hubs, we are making a new city easily accessible to our existing customers and introducing SHARE NOW to the residents of Rotterdam."

"We strongly believe in sharing more and owning less, so we can make our cities more liveable and future-proof. We will only get the transition to sustainable mobility done if mobility providers, municipalities and cities work together. That is why we are so pleased with this collaboration with the City of Rotterdam and with APCOA Parking", says Bosman.

Part of the Rotterdam Pilot Project
The hub in the Parking Garage Schouwburgplein 2 (next to Rotterdam Central Station) is part of a pilot by the municipality of Rotterdam that will start on September 1st. Twenty parking spaces are designated to be used by different providers of shared cars.

Judith Bokhove, Alderman for Mobility, Youth and Language of the Municipality of Rotterdam, says: „For a short trip through the city, there are shared bicycles and shared scooters. Or you take public transport. For longer journeys and journeys between cities, you can opt for public transport or from now on these electric shared cars. This way you get everywhere you need to be, and only pay when you travel.“

APCOA Parking Westblaak
With the hub in APCOA Parking Westblaak, SHARE NOW starts a collaboration with APCOA PARKING, working towards numerous hubs at strategic locations in the Randstad. In doing so SHARE NOW links up with the URBAN HUBS label of APCOA PARKING.

"The digital and on-demand economy, especially in the field of mobility and logistics, needs a smart and flexible infrastructure," says Dick de Pater, Sales Director at APCOA Netherlands. "APCOA PARKING strives for an integrated ecosystem of smart cities and mobility services, but also reduction of CO2 emissions. Therefore, for our URBAN HUBS we are looking for strategic partners with the same vision to work with. We are therefore very pleased to have an ambitious and leading provider like SHARE NOW," said De Pater.
