SHARE NOW adds 200 Peugeot e-208s to its Madrid fleet

  • The new model is the company's longest range electric vehicle in Spain
  • The leading company in car leasing and mobility solutions for companies, Athlon, has been responsible for supplying the cars to the company
  • The Peugeot e-208 will allow metropolitan trips to the Sierra de Guadarrama and Gredos, or adjacent provincial capitals such as Segovia, Avila or Toledo.

Madrid, December 13, 2021 SHARE NOW, European market leader in car-sharing, continues its commitment to electric mobility in the Spanish market and, as a result, has just added the new Peugeot e-208 to its services in Madrid. The capital of Spain is the first city  from southern Europe to incorporate this electric model in one of the SHARE NOW's fleets. Two hundred units of this five-seater model with a range of up to 362 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle (World Harmonized Light Vehicle Test)¹, will be successively integrated into the SHARE NOW fleet in the coming weeks. The Peugeot e-208 will be the electric car with the longest range of the platform in Spain.

After the arrival of the Fiat 500e in July and the BMW X1 xDrive25e in September, SHARE NOW continues its commitment, with this new car, to long-term car-sharing. In fact, with a fully loaded Peugeot e-208 it is possible to travel around the outskirts of Madrid, like the Sierra, or adjacent provincial capitals such as Segovia, Avila or Toledo.

The mix of urban and metropolitan car-sharing with the possibility of undertaking long-term trips is the future of shared mobility and, for this reason, SHARE NOW has not stopped investing in vehicles with greater autonomy, which help to improve the flexibility and freedom of users, while remaining committed to sustainable and shared mobility” states David Bartolomé, Managing Director of SHARE NOW in Spain, and highlights “the commitment to the Spanish market is increasingly important for the company. In fact, Madrid is the first southern European city in which SHARE NOW will operate the Peugeot e-208 in one of our fleets. With this new vehicle, we are not only boosting the flexibility offered to our customers, but also the progress of electric mobility in Spain,” says Bartolomé.

These 200 models will be supplied by Athlon, a multi-brand leasing company of Daimler Mobility AG, which is also a leader in mobility solutions for companies. "For us, being able to supply these vehicles is to take a step further in contributing to a necessary transition towards more electric fleets. We have already reinforced our commitment to more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility last year by launching a pioneering product in the market, OneElectric. Being able to help move towards an intelligent urban model means progressing towards a cleaner future for everyone", affirms Homero Becerra, Managing Director of Athlon Iberia.

Six years of car-sharing in Spain

This November also marks six years since SHARE NOW, previously car2go, brought the concept of car-sharing to Spain. During this time, the company has continued to innovate and invest in the development of its own algorithms and technologies. In fact, one of the company's main pillars is artificial intelligence, a key element in achieving a more sustainable world. Thanks to it, the multinational can face challenges in the sector such as the identification of favorable areas for car-sharing or the availability of vehicles in the exact place where customers need them.

All these technologies are helping to consolidate car-sharing as an efficient, safe and sustainable transport alternative. As a result, 283,000 Spaniards already trust SHARE NOW and value very positively the access to electric and hybrid mobility in the simplest way. In Europe, the company already has around 3.3 million users and is present in 16 cities across the continent.
