How do I start a charging session?

Once you have found your partner station, tap on 'Start charging' in the app and follow the following steps:

  • Select an available charging pole and enter the number in the app. The charging pole number is on the pole itself, just below the QR code. In case of fast charging, you might also be required to select the cable you’ll use on the charging station’s screen.
  • Connect the cable to the car first. The cable is in the trunk or attached to the charging pole in case of a fast charging station. Make sure the engine is switched off and all doors and windows are closed.
  • Tap on 'Start charging' again on your smartphone and wait for the charging session to begin. Please don't close the app until the charging process has started.
Do you block an amount on my credit (or debit) card when I start a trip?

Yes. At the beginning of each trip, an estimated trip amount will be pre-authorised from your credit (or debit) card. If this amount cannot be booked, your trip cannot start. In such cases, we recommend checking with your bank or credit card institution for a resolution.

If you are using a prepaid debit or credit card, please make sure you have enough credit in your bank account before starting a trip.

The final trip cost will be charged to your card after you end your trip.

What should I do if the engine doesn’t start?

Relax. In most cases, there’s nothing wrong with the car. As a safety measure, we remotely lock the engine so that the car can’t be driven off while you’re away. When you’re ready to drive again, simply unlock the engine via the app. If that doesn’t work, remove the car key from ignition and try again.

What is a no-show fee?

A no-show fee applies if you do not pick up your car and start your trip without notifying us.

What is a late cancellation fee?

A late cancellation fee applies if you choose to cancel your trip less than 24 hours before it starts.

I used to use wuddi. Can I transfer my wuddi account to SHARE NOW?

Sadly not. You can register for SHARE NOW and start using the app right away though - it only takes 3 minutes to sign up!

What is an intercity fee?

An intercity fee of 8,99 € applies when you start your trip in one city and end it in a new city. This is currently only possible between Cologne and Dusseldorf.

Can I use a different SHARE NOW car during my pre-booking?

Once the pre-booked car has been reserved for you 1 hour before start time, you will not be able to reserve or rent other SHARE NOW cars.

How will I know when my pre-booked car is ready?

Your car will be ready for you at your pick-up location roughly 1 hour before start time. We'll notify you as soon as the car is ready for you.

How will I find my pre-booked car?

We'll notify you when the car is ready for you. Simply open the SHARE NOW app. The car will already be reserved for you on the map. Just walk over and start your trip in the app!

Why is the amount you pre-authorised more than the rate I booked?

SHARE NOW pre-authorises an estimated trip amount before you start driving. The amount is more than the hourly or daily rate you have chosen to allow for any incurred kilometre costs.

The pre-authorised amount does not equal the final trip cost, which will only be charged after your trip ends.

Are there any additional fees or penalties for occupying a charging station after the charge is complete?

There are no extra charges or penalties immediately after the vehicle finishes charging. However, if the charging station is occupied for an extended period after the charge is complete, additional charges may apply starting from the 14th hour. This is to ensure that charging stations remain available for other users.

Can I use station-based car-sharing to drive to the airport?

When taking trips with station-based car-sharing, you must return to the car to its Home Station at the end of your drive. This means it is not possible to start your trip with station-based car-sharing and end it at the airport.

Airport pick-ups and drop-offs are only possible with free-floating car-sharing.

Cars with Keyless Start: Stand near the car and use the SHARE NOW app to unlock the car via Bluetooth. Start the engine once you're in the car.

Cars with keys: Use the car key to get in and start your engine as usual.

No. You can only earn SHARE NOW Rewards points when starting and ending trips from your home country (the country in which you registered your account). If you registered in Berlin, for example, you can earn points in all German cities where SHARE NOW is present. If you travel to a city outside of your home country, such as Rome, you can still use SHARE NOW car-sharing but you will not earn SHARE NOW Rewards points for these trips.

If you have moved abroad and would like to change your home country to continue to earn SHARE NOW Rewards points, you can do so by contacting Customer Support.

The Cross Borders option doesn't include highway tolls or vignette stickers, and you can only end the trip back in your Home Area. Safe travels!
