Where can I park and end my trip?

To end the trip, you need to be inside the Home Area. The Home Area is our operative area, in which SHARE NOW cars free-float around the city. You can park for free on any legal public street parking space within this area. It's possible to park and end your trip in drop off zones outside the city in your Home Area, but a drop off fee will apply.

What is a Home Area? Can I drive outside of it?

Think of the Home Area as our operating area, in which our cars free-float around the city and where you can park on the streets for free. You may leave the Home Area, but you must drive back to the same Home Area to end the trip.

If you're driving an electric car, please note that the range of a fully charged electric car is up to 100km (+/- 20km) for a smart and up to 280 km for a Fiat 500e and that there may not be charging stations outside the Home Area.

smart fortwo:

  • Put the car key back into the key holder and lock the car via the app.
  • To continue driving, just open the app and tap the "Unlock" button to open the car.

Cars with keys:

  • Use the car key to lock up the car and make sure to take the car key with you!
  • To continue driving, simply open the car with the key again. You do not have to do anything in the app.
  • To end your trip, park the car and place the car key back into the key card holder. Make sure doors and windows are closed. In the app, select "End trip".

Can I drive to another city?

Yes, you can always drive outside the Home Area to other cities, but you must drive the car back to the same Home Area to end your trip. You can always see the Home Area clearly outlined in the SHARE NOW app.

Rhineland: In Germany, you can drive between and end your trips in Cologne and Dusseldorf. An intercity fee will apply.

Drop-off zones: It is possible to park the car and end your trip in drop-off zones, which are areas a little outside the city center. A drop-off fee will apply.

When driving in Italy, keep in mind that you are not allowed to drive SHARE NOW cars into the regions of Campania, Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata, and Sicilia.
